Wild and Weird Week 5

Week five, aside from injury, was somewhat uneventful. However, today, we have seen some very interesting developments in the NFL. Who says there are no trades during the regular season?

The Buffalo Bills traded running back Marshawn Lynch to the Seattle Seahawks for two undisclosed draft choices. Lynch was the Bills’ first round draft pick in 2007. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact Lynch has on the overall performance of the Seahawks.

Lynch is no stranger to trouble with the law, but reports cite that this move is one in which he’s extremely excited about, and the Seahawks are happy to have him.

Many know that Randy Moss has not felt “wanted or appreciated” by the New England Patriots. Brady got his contract extension, and Moss thought the Pats should have done the same for him. Today, it was announced that Moss would be returning to the Minnesota Vikings, in exchange for an undisclosed (yet reported 3rd round) draft pick. Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings have to be beaming right now.

The question remains now, with two prominent players being traded in week five, does that open the Pandora’s Box of more upcoming trades before the NFL’s October 19 deadline?

Do you see more trades on the horizon? Who will stay, and who will go?

Upcoming UFC Fights In 2010 Will Pack Plenty Of Punch

UFC 113 will be here before we know it and it is going to feature a rematch of Machida and Rua. “The Dragon” is far and away one of the most intimidating fighters in the UFC. Fighter after fighter steps in against him and they usually go out on a gurney. He currently holds the belt and will be defending his title against Mauricio Rua. He hung tough with Machida in his last fight, but just could not overcome him. He ended up losing after a tough 5 round bout in a unanimous decision.

May 29, 2010 is the scheduled date for UFC 114 and it is going to be one of the most anticipated bouts of the year. The big draw on this card will the fight between Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson. The only smudge on Evans record at this point is his lost to Machido, and there is surely no shame in that. Jackson is coming into this fight fresh of the release of his latest film endeavor, “The A-Team.” His last fight was March 7, 2009 and he may have a bit too much rust to shake off and Evans could be catching him at the perfect time.
