Kings of Leon New Release

The Kings of Leon have gained momentum in the US – both with fan base and airplay.  While wildly successful in the UK for several years, the quartet has only recently enjoyed mainstream success in the United States, with their “Only By The Night” release and subsequent tour – which is currently in the UK.

With opening acts such as The Black Keys, Built to Spill and the Features, the band has gone from an underground alternative “buzz” to a full-scale headliner. However, with the Kings of Leon having a slated October release of “Come Around Sundown”, and the first single “Radioactive” already receiving airplay, there is a divide.  Old-school fans of the Kings of Leon feel the band has deviated from it’s gritty, unique sound, in favor of become more mainstream and “marketable”.  The newer fan base – and critics alike – feel the band is maturing.  What are your thoughts?  A look at the old, and a look at the new:
