Check out American Idiot for a Punk Pop Musical Experience

When the band Green Day first hit the mainstream back in the 90s, few people would have imagined that a couple decades later, there would be a musical based on one of the trio’s albums. However, when Green Day released American Idiot in 2004, it signified a definite change in the type of music the punk band was putting out. There was a different level of maturity to the music, which most fans found refreshing. The new album, which was something of a punk/rock/opera, really took off with old and new fans alike. The album went on to reach multiplatinum status and even to win a Grammy.

In fact, the success was so great that Green Day even decided to turn the album into a narrative story and a musical based on the strength of the songs on the album. As fans heard the band was doing this, some were unsure of just how it would translate. Would it still have the same impact as a musical as it did as an album?

It took nearly six years from the time the album released to the opening of the musical in 2010. The first run ran for 422 performances, and they are again touring. It received a nomination for best musical Tony, and it actually won two Tony Awards in 2010 — one for best lighting and one for best scenic design. In 2011, it won a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.

You can watch the story of disaffected youth growing up and growing apart in America, all set to the music of Green Day. The show features all of the great music from the album, along with some surprises. Some of the popular songs you will hear include “American Idiot”, “Holiday”, “21 Guns”, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, and “Wake Me Up When September Ends”.

If you love musicals and you are a fan of the band, you certainly want to see the show when it comes to a town near you. The latest tour will take American Idiot: The Musical to Portland, Salt Lake City, Baton Rouge, and more. Check to see if they are coming to your area and buy tickets soon.

Listen to the Smooth and Fun Sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire

The name Earth, Wind and Fire evokes many images and thoughts for music lovers. They are a popular group that’s been around since 1969, and they are still going very strong, as evidenced by the popularity of their latest tour. This musical fixture has been writing hits for more than four decades. They are one of the groups that really have staying power, and one of the reasons for this is the fact that they’ve never been the type of band that only does one thing. They span genres. The group is just as comfortable playing rock, jazz, and disco, as they are R&B and soul. They’ve been able to straddle different types of musical styles, which help with their songwriting prowess and broad appeal.

Over the years, the band has had a number of different members, but the level of talent and dedication by the musicians in the band has never wavered. They’ve had more than twenty Grammy nominations and six wins. They also have twelve nominations for the American Music Awards, and four wins. Earth, Wind and Fire are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and they have their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Several members, including Maurice White and Philip Bailey are in the Songwriters Hall of Fame too.

While the awards are nice, it’s probably the thought of all of the music that really gets you excited about seeing this group perform live. Here are some of the songs that you know and love, and you can be sure they will play at their shows: “Boogie Wonderland”, “Shining Star”, and “That’s the Way of the World”.

If you love the sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire, you certainly do not want to miss this group in action. They are currently touring, and you will regret missing them this time around. Check out their various tour dates and see if they are coming to a town near you. It’s a great night out for you and your friends, or just you and that someone special. Buy some tickets today and have a great night!

What’s the Deal with Jerry Seinfeld’s Latest Tour?

It is not often you get to see a live performance from a television legend hailed by many as a comedic genius. You get to experience that when you check out Jerry Seinfeld’s latest tour.

Seinfeld has been performing standup for much longer than most people realize. In 1976, he tried out at an open-mic night at Catch a Rising Star in NYC. His performance there led to his appearing on a Rodney Dangerfield HBO Special. His first performance on a sitcom was on Benson in 1979, where he was in several episodes as Frankie.

He continued with his stand-up routines and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1981. His appearance on the show turned out to be popular, and he came back for more appearances. He also performed on Late Night with David Letterman. These television performances helped him build a wider audience and a following that continued to grow.

Of course, most people know and love Seinfeld from his hit television show that ran from 1988 to 1998. Created by himself and Larry David, Seinfeld was different from other sitcoms of its time. It had a slightly darker edge with characters that were fun to watch and follow, even though they were shallow. The show is still popular today thanks to syndication.

After spending nearly a decade playing a fictionalized version of him on television, Seinfeld moved on to other things. First and foremost, he returned to doing stand-up. He also wrote several books, appeared in commercials, and at awards presentations. He also co-wrote and produced Bee Movie. He also lent the voice to the main character, Barry B. Benson. Today, he continues to perform and look for new challenges in his career.

If you are a fan of Jerry Seinfeld’s brand of humor, and if you loved the show, you know you can’t miss the opportunity to see him live! Check out all of the various areas where he’s taking this latest tour and buy tickets to a location near you. You will have a great evening watching one of the best observational comedians ever.

Don’t Miss Ke$ha and Pitbull on Tour Together!

Ke$ha and Pitbull are ringing in this summer in a huge way, and fans who want to check out what’s sure to be one of the best shows of the year have less than three weeks to do it. The co-headlining tour is stopping in over 20 cities to perform 30 shows, and they’re bringing Justice Crew along with them for the ride.

Ke$ha didn’t take much time off after wrapping her hit television show, “Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life,” in late May; she started this tour with Pitbull almost right away. While on the road, she’ll be promoting her latest album, “Warrior,” which was released late last year. Once finished with this one, she still won’t have a lot of downtime, as she’s set to go out on her solo tour beginning in July.

Pitbull has been pretty busy himself too, finishing up his latest single, “Feel This Moment” with Christina Aguilera, and just coming off his own “Global Warming” tour from his album release, which was also last year. Throughout the co-headlining tour, Pitbull will be performing tracks from both his latest album, as well as some of the classics that made fans fall in love with him in the first place.

With a short opening number, Justice Crew starts off every show with a hugely dynamic dance number that always gets the crowd going. If you want to check out Ke$ha and Pitbull when they’re in your town, check out their concert dates here and then book your tickets quick!

Are You Going to Coachella 2014?

Coachella 2013 just wrapped up last month and already the organizers of the event, Goldenvoice, have released next year’s dates. Just like this year those are spread over two back-to-back weekends, and there’s a payment plan for those that are also already wondering how they’re going to pay for their way into the festival.

The weekends for Coachella 2014 are April 11-13, and April 18-20, and tickets went on sale May 24. One of the biggest benefits of the festival being announced so early (in addition to just being able to book the weekend off,) is that concert-goers can take advantage of the payment plan offered by Goldenvoice. Ticket buyers who make a 20 per cent down payment can stretch the remainder of the payment over six months — so no one has to miss the chance to go to Coachella.

Along with the early date announcement, there’s also already a fake lineup that’s been announced — and a fraudulent poster to go along with it. This advertisement includes big names such as Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and U2, to name just the biggest names. But beware. Even though next year’s Coachella is bound to have a massive lineup with only the hugest names in music, no one has yet to be announced; so take the fake poster for what it is — over exuberant fans. Coachella will most likely announce the lineup at the same time they always do, which is about three months before the festival starts.

Luke Bryan Has Busy Touring Summer Ahead

It’s been a great run for Luke Bryan, one of country music’s biggest stars of 2013. Bryan has pending nominations at the CMT Music Awards for vide of the year, male video of the year, collaboration video of the year and CMT performance of the year. The songs that have earned him nominations include “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” “The Only Way I know,” “Drunk on You,” and “Feel Again.”

Last year, Bryan cleaned up at the American Country Awards, with a staggering 10 wins, including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Album of the Year. His single was “I Don’t Want This Night to End.” The song hit number one on the United States Country chart, the third of his four number one hits.

Bryan’s winning album, “Tailgates and Tanlines,” also hit number one on the United States Country charts, his first album to reach the top spot after two albums hit number two.

Bryan broke out with the number two hit, “Do I,” in 2009. In 2010, he had two chart toppers in “Rain is a Good Thing,” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby.”

“I Don’t Want This Night to End,” was the next number one hit, following “Country Girl (Shake it for Me),” which hit number four.

In 2012, Bryan dropped “Drunk On You,” another number one hit. Since, he’s had “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” reach number three on the charts and “Crash My Party,” is his current single, up to number two and possibly climbing higher.

Bryan is a 36-year-old from Leesburg, Georgia. His tour is headed to New Jersey and Massachusetts in early June, but it really picks up in mid June with three shows in three nights in Peoria, IL, Maryland Heights, MO and Tinley Park, IL.

Bryan hits Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Atlanta, GA, in a four night run from July 11th to July 14th. His tour continues through July and August with stops in Ohio, Michigan, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Wichita, Tulsa, Utah, Colorado, Tennessee and Florida.

Don’t miss out on your chance to see Bryan, as he’s likely coming to a venue near you.

Selena Gomez Gears up for First Tour!

Selena Gomez is clearly ready to leave Waverly Place far behind her as she gears up for her first ever international tour, the “Stars Dance Tour 2013.” It all starts in August and currently has Selena running around the world until late November; and tickets are on sale now!

The world of conquering pop is nothing new to Selena Gomez. The album, which is called “Stars Dance,” will be her fifth, but she’s never taken her act around the globe before, and clearly she’s excited. After performing her latest single, “Come And Get It,” at the MTV Movie Awards Gomez announced, while gushing, that she’s going on world tour this year and that she’s hitting some big cities along the way. Just a few of those are Ottawa, Canada; Stockholm, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark; Paris, France; and London, Great Britain.

Currently you can find all 19 international dates on Selena’s official website here, but you can be sure that more dates will probably be added.

Recently Selena revealed parts of her tour rider, which is the list of must-haves and special requests stars put in when traveling on the road. And the things Selena must have on the road with her are a bit, well, unexpected.

“Incense, pickles always,” she recently told MTV. “I don’t know. I actually have a boring rider. I’ll be honest….ramen. That’s what I have. I’m more about food and apparently, incense.”

Don’t Miss These Concerts this Summer!

As we enter the busiest season for concert tours, it can be difficult to decide on which one to attend. In order to help you whittle your choices down, or just see who’s going to be on the road, here are the concerts that are going to prove to be some of the biggest of the year.

The Rolling Stones

No one knows if this is going to be it for the band, but they’ve added another string of dates to their 50th anniversary tour. Yes, it’s only ten cities or so, but you can’t always get what you want — and that’s still ten opportunities to see the Stones live!

Bruno Mars

About to begin his “Unorthodox Jukebox” tour, both Bruno and his supporting act, Fitz and the Tantrums, are going back in time to the 80s, making this a great concert for anyone feeling nostalgic.

One Direction

This weekend something’s about to happen that every teenage girl in the country has been waiting for — 1D tickets go on sale! Luckily there will be lots to go around, as this tour is taking the boys well into next year.

Justin Bieber

Go to hear some of his biggest hits. Go to admire Justin’s hair. Or go just to see if he’ll show up on time. Justin continues his “Believe” tour, and you can bet any show will be a night full of drama and energy!

Beyonce

Since her new album wasn’t released prior to her “Mrs. Carter” tour as promised, fans who attend any of Beyonce’s concerts before the end of the year might be the very first to hear some new material!

Did we miss any? Do you know of hot concerts that aren’t on this list? Which ones are you attending?

Nickelodeon’s Fresh Beat Band on Tour Again!

If you’ve missed the Fresh Beat Band last time they went on tour, take heart in knowing that you can catch Kiki, Marina, Twist, and Shout as they go on tour once again, performing 60 shows in their tour that will take them around the country beginning in November.

The Fresh Beat Band is one of the most popular shows for preschoolers that teaches about solving everyday problems, all the while setting tasks and challenges to perfect rhyming and the freshest beats to teach children about music, while they’re learning about friendship and respecting each other. When the show was last on tour it sold out in many venues and so, producers decided to take it on the road once again.

“The Fresh Beat Band is back by popular demand,” said Dough Cohn, SVP, Music, Nickelodeon. “The Fresh Beat Band Live in Concert Tour has been so successful because it provides 90 minutes of family bonding time where kids and parents can laugh, sing and dance along with the fantastic Fresh Beats.”

The tour kicks off on November 12, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas at Majestic Theatre. From there the Fresh Beats will travel around to some of America’s biggest cities including Austin, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, New York City, Orlando, Baltimore, Nashville, Miami Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Phoenix to name just a few.

Tickets are now on sale so don’t miss your chance to see the Fresh Beat Band today!

The Top Five Highest-Grossing Concert Tours

The Who and Maroon 5 were both unfortunately knocked out of the top five highest-grossing concert tours of the week. So, who took their place? And will you be going to any of these concerts?

5.) Pink, The Truth About Love Tour
Grossed: $1,087,880
Average ticket price: $76.84
Last week’s rank: 3

Pink’s tour slips two spots this week, but she’ll most likely continue to be in the top five for several more weeks to come. This tour doesn’t wrap up until the end of July!

4.) Kenny Chesney, No Shoes Nation
Grossed: $1,142,624
Average ticket price: $78.39

Kenny Chesney takes one of the empty slots on the charts this week, as he gets even more fans out to see his show. And with his new album, Life on a Rock, out just last week, it’s no wonder why!

3.) George Strait, The Cowboy Rides Away Tour
Grossed: $1,430,289
Average ticket price: $83.53
Last week’s rank: 2

George Strait slips just one spot this week, but fans know that this is their very last chance to see this legend in concert. As such, he’s likely to fall into the top five until next year, when this tour will sadly do a final wrap.

2.) Bon Jovi, What About Now Tour
Grossed: $1,741,784
Average ticket price: $96.53
Last week’s rank: 1

Bon Jovi drops from the top spot and into the second this week. Still, these rockers are proving that they’ve still got all of that, and with a new album out, even more! There’s nothing like seeing these Jersey boys in concert, so it’s not surprising seeing it still sit so high at the top.

1.) Taylor Swift, Red Tour
Grossed: $1,853,930
Average ticket price: $81.31

Taylor Swift dominates wherever she goes, but even though this tour has been running since March, it’s the first time it’s made it into the top five. Taylor made it in a big way though, climbing all the way to the number one spot in just one week. Although, the announcement she made that Red’s going to Australia might have had something to do with the renewed interest, too.
